Bonneville Salt Flats for the Common Man

Put it in gear, twist the throttle, and ride far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, away...

  1. Dear Steve:

Very interesting... I have yet to visit the salt flats, but my friend Chris Carr hit 368 mph there a few years ago. I was surprised to learn that the salt can be somewhat quashy. I always thought it was like pavement.

    Nice pictures.

    Fondest regards,

  2. @Jack, the fresh salt is quashy and feels like hitting a patch of soft sand. Otherwise, the salt feels mostly like pavement. I imagine when they do runs they drive a path over the salt to pack it down.
